Our office is located in the heart of New York City on the 39th floor of the Empire State Building, and we are owned by The Riverside Company, a global private equity firm.

We developed the WorkStride platform based on years of experience building custom recognition and incentive programs for a variety of companies across many industry verticals. Our early success was based on our strength in building complex custom websites that met our clients’ specific needs.

We held on to this flexibility as a priority in building the WorkStride platform, including the ability to combine recognition and incentives seamlessly. Our developers sit in our home office and communicate directly with our client services and customer service teams so we can ensure that every website functions exactly the way our clients and users need it to.

Jim Hemmer – Chief Executive Officer

Jim Hemmer has more than 25 years of experience in the high-tech and communications industries, and has been a senior executive at companies in all stages of development from early stage to Fortune 500.

Prior to joining WorkStride, Jim was President and CEO of Antenna Software. Under his direction, Antenna evolved from very early stage to the leader in the enterprise mobility market, an achievement made possible by consistently executing on a clear vision for how the market would develop and having a keen understanding of enterprise customers’ needs.

Jim has also held leadership positions at ADC Corporation’s Software Services Division, Capgemini Telecommunications, and Computer Sciences Corporation. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University and an MBA degree from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

tom silk workstride executive vice president, sales and marketing

Tom Silk – Chief Customer Officer

Tom Silk left the mortgage industry to join WorkStride as its first salesperson in 2000. He proved instrumental in the early success of the company, bringing on customers such as Pepsico, Samsung, and Verizon Wireless as the company built up its recognition and incentive software offering. In 2004, Tom was promoted to Vice President of Sales and Marketing, heading up a nationwide partner network and taking over digital marketing activities for the company.

Today, Tom is Executive Vice President of WorkStride, having facilitated the company’s sale to The Riverside Company in 2012. He has expanded the sales team to include both channel partners and in-house representatives, built a marketing team, and formed distribution partnerships for the WorkStride platform. Under his leadership the company has grown from a small startup to serve more than 100 corporate customers, including several Fortune 500 companies. Tom has a BS in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

tom albano workstride

Tom Albano – Chief Financial Officer

Tom Albano has more than 15 years of experience in corporate finance and accounting. He joined WorkStride in January 2015 as Controller, responsible for monitoring and reviewing all day-to-day accounting functions. He was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in February 2017. Prior to joining WorkStride, he spent seven years at FalconStor as their Worldwide Corporate Controller, where he led the worldwide accounting team. Tom also spent six years at KPMG LLP, where he last served as a Manager in their audit practice primarily serving middle market public companies.

Tom is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a BBA in Accounting from Hofstra University.

Jim King – Vice President, Program Delivery

Jim King has more than 14 years of experience in the development and delivery of communication systems and software for the defense, healthcare and banking industries. After leaving BAE Systems in 2012, Jim spent a year in the healthcare industry managing enterprise level IT projects for Becton Dickinson.

Prior to joining WorkStride, he worked for Dovetail Systems, where he managed client engagements and enterprise deployments of transaction processing software for global financial institutions. He holds a BEng in Computer Engineering and a MEng in Systems Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.

Joe O’Connell – Senior Vice President, Product Management

Joe O’Connell has 13 years of experience developing enterprise SaaS products for Fortune 500 clients in finance, accounting, legal, professional services, defense, healthcare, and technology. Prior to joining WorkStride in January 2015, he was Senior Director of Product Development at Oracle, where he led teams building a mobile-enabled social recruiting product that helps companies improve their employee referral-based hires.

Prior to Oracle, Joe was VP of Technology for a NYC-based startup, SelectMinds, developing Alumni networking and recruiting products for 9+ years. SelectMinds was acquired by Oracle in 2012. Joe has a BA in Computer Science from Colby College.

sandeep chand workstride

Sandeep Chand – Vice President, Engineering

Sandeep Chand is responsible for software delivery of WorkStride’s recognition, rewards and incentives SaaS platform. He additionally oversees the organization’s corporate IT infrastructure. His 20+ years of technology leadership roles span from startups to fortune-500 companies in human capital management, financial back-office and social discovery.

Prior to joining WorkStride, he was Head of Engineering at MeetMe, a social discovery platform. From 2011 to 2014, he was Head of R&D at iCIMS, a leading SaaS applicant tracking platform. Sandeep held a variety of roles of increasing responsibilities at ADP, including developing and successfully launching General Ledger Interface (GLI), a SaaS offering to its core payroll customers.

Sandeep holds an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University and BA in Computer Engineering from DIT.

joanne gadson

Joanne Gadson – HR Business Partner

Joanne Gadson has over 20 years’ human resources experience in the pharmaceutical, consumer packaged goods, and software industries, holding positions of increasing responsibility during her tenure. Prior to joining WorkStride, she was Senior Director, Human Resources for Antenna Software.

Joanne is a strategic business partner with the innate ability to understand high-level business objectives and translate them into an HR strategy that will achieve them. She has expertise in the areas of performance management, employee relations, full cycle recruiting across functions, and employee coaching and counseling. Joanne has her BBA in Finance and Banking, with a concentration in Psychology, from Hofstra University.
